parasocial relationships are weird man

having seen a bit too much of how parasocial relationships can go too far, i've become a bit iffy whenever i see people acting overtly friendly towards a media figure on instinct. my opinion on parasocial relationships is this: as long as you are able to be self aware and have the capability to catch yourself whenever you start acting familiar with a person you like but fundamentally do not know, then they're fine. i definitely understand why this happens, considering most of the time these days those media figures/creators are the content. i respect creators who are able to set specific, strict boundaries with their fanbase, however someone being a lot more open in that regard isn't consent for you to act weird lol
