gorou brainrot

i am writing at around 1am (here, anyways) to tell you that the fact that we cannot legitimately pursue genshin impact characters romantically in-game will be my villain origin story. i spent the evening going through the entirety of gorou's hangout quest (si thoma sa susunod), and my goodness is this dude adorable. compared to the other characters gorou came off as a little one-note, and even after playing through his hangout i'm still itching to know more, but playing his story i found that he was an absolute joy to interact with. the inciting incident of his hangout quest involves him attempting to out-tease yae miko, which could branch and veer out into a number of plots: a story focusing more on his role as a resistance leader, or a story about his other occupation as a magazine advice columnist. my personal favorite branching pathway is the one where he tries confronting miko directly at the grand narukami shrine after taking advice from watatsumi island residents (the man believes the "i have this friend..." excuse is convincing), because not only is the outcome hilarious, but this route is where the ship tease between him and the player character becomes very, very apparent.

miko assumes gorou and the traveler are there to get a reading on their future as a couple, and gorou actually looks elated at the prospect of being with the player forever! on top of this, miko tempts him with the thought of the traveler grooming his tail for him. combine this with gorou's voiceline where the traveler gets to rub his dog ears, and you can probably see why i'm so hung up on not getting to romance him for real, dating sim style. i'd love for mihoyo to release a dating sim spin-off with the genshin characters (i really do think it'll be one of their greatest hits), but seeing as their actual dating sim game tears of themis has a real gacha problem (if i'm not mistaken, if you are to play through the individual stories of the male leads, you can only use their cards [which you acquire through the gacha] during the "battle" sequences. it's either this or events focusing on them), i'm not so sure how they'd execute it. if it's a spin-off then maybe they wouldn't have to implement gacha elements.

anyhow i'm actually toying with the idea of leveling up gorou alongside itto, since the way gorou (a geo support) is designed makes him rely on other geo characters in the party to really shine, and they'll probably work well with albedo, whom i already main. for now though i'm focusing on ascending both diluc and albedo so i can reliably farm for itto's ascension materials. i curse whoever had the idea to make the corrosion status a thing in this game, because farming the golden wolflord would have been so easy without it ;-;
